Daily Brown women are told all of the many things wrong with us. We are robbed of our right to beauty and our identity is constantly misappropriated and slain. Daily we turn on the TV and see ideals that are in no way a representation of us or what we even want to be. Everyday it becomes a little bit harder to be comfortably me.
Welp, Travis Little has made it a little easier to love my Brown entirely. Not only is he telling me that I am beauty but that I am fine just how I am. And honey this is not late night pillow talk. This is not Netflix & Chill. This man is openly praising us for who and what we are. Not only is he praising us but he is flaunting his beautiful ethnicity. He is a Brown man just dripping his beautiful brown all up and down the streets of NYC and I love it. He reminds me that Black men are not only what mainstream media decides to display. He reminds me that there is chocolatey goodness that does not sag and does not emulate ignorance. Hopefully one day others notice that amazing fact as well.
There are so many facets to my Brown community and Travis Little only further explores that.
This song and video is so many of the reasons mainstream music is not the way to go. If Travis were a mainstream artist this video and song would be real different. It would be watered down and less real.
To those who believe all of the negative reflections of the black community that you see on TV, that doesn’t nearly give you the actual picture of us. But this video, this video gives you a huge snap into the the day of the life of me. These beautiful brown folks are what I see daily.
